The warm vintage has resulted in a luscious style, similar to that of 2018, there's a richness to the palate whilst retaining the all-important hint of minerality and a racy, crisp finish. The palate is one of crisp green apple, citrus and a touch of tropical fruit. This refreshing Sancerre has a fine balance of subtle mineral aromas and hints of newly-cut grass that make for an enticing nose. This means cuvées of wonderfully nuance and complexity made of pristine fruit from vines ageing up to 45 years growing in soils with up to 70% limestone, yielding sauvignon blanc with racy, mineral verve that laces layer upon layer of mouth-watering green apple, citrus zest and tropical fruit. Ones in which Millet realises their full potential. Here is sauvignon blanc beautifully expressed and from some of the region's most coveted vineyards, where parcels planted around the village of Bué on limestone-rich sites so exceptional, they're often referred to as cru Sancerre. Sometimes only the savouring such finely crafted cuvées as those of Sancerre's François Millet. Moving closer to the actual town of Sancerre, soils are gravel and limestone, producing especially delicate wines. In the western part of the appellation, clay and limestone soils with Kimmeridgean marne, especially in Chavignol, produce powerful wines. While the region claims a continental climate, noted for short, hot summers and long, cold winters, variations in topography-rolling hills and steep slopes from about 600 to 1,300 feet in elevation-with great soil variations, contribute the variations in character in Sancerre Sauvignon blancs.
